BLANKET-STITCH SHORTS
¥31,900
COLOR: INDIGO
PRODUCT DETAILS

Intentionally giving a handcrafted outline to the homogeneous material of denim.
By using blanket stitching as a trim and visualizing the structural lines, a quiet sense of incongruity is created in an everyday item like shorts.
This product views the act of "sewing" itself as design, rather than mere decoration.

Material

Uses 12.5oz selvedge denim from Ihara Textile, a company with over 100 years of history.
The fabric, woven on a vintage shuttle loom, has the uneven texture unique to slub yarn, characterized by a deep texture.
The emphasis is on the inherent presence of the material itself from its unprocessed stage.

Processing

The blanket stitching applied in various places is an expression that lies between reinforcement and decoration.
The rhythm and spacing of the stitches are not mechanically uniform, retaining the natural fluctuations of handwork.
By not over-finishing, including the stitching around the hem, the inherent quality of the material is highlighted.

Silhouette

A wide tapered silhouette based on ANDERS.
It features a relaxed fit from the hips to the thighs, forming a line that naturally tapers below the knee.
Though shorts, they possess a three-dimensional feel and stable balance.

Background Story

Based on the 26SS season theme "Artisan's Handwork," this piece incorporates the process itself into the design.
Rather than adding, the focus is on the acts of "sewing" and "fastening," with the intention of imprinting the traces of time and human touch onto denim.

About the brand

Wear the authenticity.

Wear the culture.

Uncompromising everyday wear in modern times.

KURO, founded in Tokyo in 2010, initially began as a denim brand with the purpose of merging Tokyo's dynamic energy with the high craftsmanship of Okayama denim. The brand name, KURO, meaning "black" in Japanese, reflects the subtle beauty embodied in words like black-purple, jet black, and black-brown, inspired by the color of Japanese eyes and hair. KURO’s collections are defined by the concept of "black" in Japanese, which embodies a delicate sense of refinement.

By incorporating the unique sensibilities and perceptions of the Japanese people, KURO’s creations blend modernized design with the craftsmanship inherited from artisans across Japan, carrying on history and tradition. KURO views its denim products not merely as denim but as an integral part of its identity, reflecting both culture and respect for the environment. From the development of original fabrics to the architectural elements incorporated into minimalist designs, each component fuses with the expertise of skilled Japanese craftsmen. This combination creates a timeless dignity and serene elegance that endures over time.

KURO’s journey is one of pursuing a wordless elegance that lies within not just aesthetics and materials, but also in the highest quality textiles, minimalist design, and meticulously crafted garments and denim. Our denim collection embodies this philosophy, blending understated sophistication with a modern lifestyle, resulting in designs that reflect the perspectives, ideas, and values that shape today's society.
