PRODUCT DETAILS

Japanese craftsmanship boasts over 100 years of history

This denim is made from 12.5oz selvedge denim produced by Ihara Orimono, a company with over 100 years of history.
It is characterized by its deep texture and excellent durability, created using weaving techniques using old-fashioned shuttle looms.
Furthermore, by using uneven yarn (a special yarn with varying thickness), the three-dimensionality and beauty of the aging process that is unique to denim are accentuated.

A standard straight silhouette that inherits the American classic style

The waist area has a classic American shape, and the silhouette becomes gently straight from the thighs to the hem.
The streamlined design provides a comfortable fit while retaining the charm of classic denim.
The design incorporates details from vintage denim while being updated with a modern balance.

Fabric characteristics and manufacturing process

Uneven yarn spinning – Uneven yarns made from short fibers create natural shadows and a three-dimensional effect.
Rope dyeing – The warp threads are dyed repeatedly with indigo, leaving the core white, allowing you to enjoy the rich fading that develops with wear.
Fabric woven on an old-fashioned shuttle loom – carefully woven at a slow speed to achieve a fluffy texture and durability.
Skilled sewing techniques – Each item is carefully crafted by domestic craftsmen, ensuring high durability and a high-quality finish.

Attention to detail

Classic 5-pocket design – A standard configuration that combines practicality and style.
Indigo denim that changes over time - enjoy the unique aging process as you wear it for a long time.
Standard straight selvedge denim that combines the charm of traditional denim with a modern fit and comfort.

About the brand

Wear the authenticity.

Wear the culture.

Uncompromising everyday wear in modern times.

KURO, founded in Tokyo in 2010, initially began as a denim brand with the purpose of merging Tokyo's dynamic energy with the high craftsmanship of Okayama denim. The brand name, KURO, meaning "black" in Japanese, reflects the subtle beauty embodied in words like black-purple, jet black, and black-brown, inspired by the color of Japanese eyes and hair. KURO’s collections are defined by the concept of "black" in Japanese, which embodies a delicate sense of refinement.

By incorporating the unique sensibilities and perceptions of the Japanese people, KURO’s creations blend modernized design with the craftsmanship inherited from artisans across Japan, carrying on history and tradition. KURO views its denim products not merely as denim but as an integral part of its identity, reflecting both culture and respect for the environment. From the development of original fabrics to the architectural elements incorporated into minimalist designs, each component fuses with the expertise of skilled Japanese craftsmen. This combination creates a timeless dignity and serene elegance that endures over time.

KURO’s journey is one of pursuing a wordless elegance that lies within not just aesthetics and materials, but also in the highest quality textiles, minimalist design, and meticulously crafted garments and denim. Our denim collection embodies this philosophy, blending understated sophistication with a modern lifestyle, resulting in designs that reflect the perspectives, ideas, and values that shape today's society.
